Dr. Rupa Marya MD, a physician, activist, mother and musician/performer/composer, is: a professor of medicine at UC San Francisco; a co-founder of the Do No Harm Coalition (a collective of health workers committed to addressing disease through structural change); an adviser to the Mni Wichoni Health Circle (an Indigenous-led health sovereignty project at Standing Rock); co-founder of the Deep Medicine Circle (a women-of-color-led organization seeking to heal the wounds of colonialism) and leader of its Farming is Medicine program. Rupa has also toured 29 countries with her band, Rupa and the April Fishes, whose music was described by Gil Scott-Heron as “Liberation Music.”
